Wacom releases second gen 21UX Cintiq Tablet
9 Mar
Last night while looking for a new drawing tablet I stumbled upon the most amazing tablet that any modern illustrator could ask for, the Wacom Cintiq. The Cintiq allows you to sketch and paint directly onto a 21″ LCD screen that detects 2048 levels of pressure, which gives you even more control over your line weight and brush strokes. The great thing about the Cintiq is it’s not just a tablet but can be used as a second monitor; perfect illustrating canvas in the morning and second monitor for designing a website in the afternoon.
I’ll be picking up one of these soon so I’ll let you know how I go, from everyone that I’ve spoken to they’ve got nothing but praise for the first generation Cintiq so I hope the second gen lives up to it. The Cintiq is currently available for pre-order in Australia for a late March delivery, it comes in at $2,848 which is quite an investment but if it improves productivity like they say it does then it’s worth every cent.

Alternatively, you can order through The Cartoon Professor (Gold Coast) for $2,797 + Free Shipping, late March delivery.

I have got to get my hands on one, very snazzy. Downside is the price but I suppose anything worth getting costs a bit more than usual, nice review.
Hey Geoffrey, how’s everything in SA?
I’m checking the Wacom site everyday and waiting for them to be finally released, they’re saying end of March in Australia and I can’t wait to get my hands on one. The price is a downside but from what I’ve heard they help a lot. It’s got to be looked at as an investment in your career I suppose, well that’s how I’m looking at it to justify the price.
